Oregon Sinfonietta
The award-winning Oregon Sinfonietta, now in its 46th season and conducted by Dr. Donald L. Appert, is a full symphony orchestra of about sixty musicians that draws together community musicians from the greater Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington metropolitan area. The orchestra performs four free concerts per season at the Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church in SE Portland. The repertoire for the 2018 – 2019 season includes Mahler's Symphony No. 4, Ethel Smyth's Serenade in D Major, Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1, and Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, "New World," along with other great works. Talented winners of the CMSO Concerto Competition also perform full concertos with the orchestra each season. (Please see our Concerts page for the complete repertoire list and for when our outstanding young artist winners will be performing.)
The Oregon Sinfonietta is seeking more players, in particular cello, bass, and percussion, to join us in performing the great works of the classical music repertoire. Rehearsals are held on Thursday nights, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at Concordia University, Portland, Oregon, in the Fine Arts Building on NE 27th Avenue, between NE Holman and NE Dekum streets. (Please see the below maps and directions to Concordia University.) For more information, please call (503) 285-7621, or e-mail Dr. Appert at cc1maestro@aol.com.
