Oregon Sinfonietta
The award-winning Oregon Sinfonietta, now in its 47th season and conducted by Dr. Donald L. Appert, is a full symphony orchestra of about sixty musicians that draws together community musicians from the greater Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington metropolitan area. The orchestra performs four free concerts per season at the Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church in SE Portland. The repertoire for the 2019 2020 season includes Barber's Adagio for Strings, Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra, and R. Strauss' Death and Transfiguration, along with other great works. Talented winners of the CMSO Concerto Competition also perform full concertos with the orchestra each season. (Please see our Concerts page for the complete repertoire list and for when our outstanding young artist winners will be performing.)
Performing the great works of the classical music repertoire, the Oregon Sinfonietta rehearses on Thursday nights, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at Concordia University, Portland, Oregon, in the Fine Arts Building on NE 27th Avenue, between NE Holman and NE Dekum streets.
